Penis On Wheels 2010

It began with a dream.  I woke up after having a long period of sleep and decided to make a sculpture of male genitalia. I went to the Armory Arts Center in West Palm Beach, Fl and I started to construct a penis out of clay. After the piece was fired in the kiln, I […]

Unbridled With Rider 2011

One evening, I was watching TV.  I was riveted to a movie about Georgia O’Keeffe.  In the twilight hours of the next day, I had a dream about a static horse with no legs and a female rider mounted upon it.  This became the start of “Unbridled”.

Flying Vaginas Mobile 2011

Someone had said to me, “Cheri, if you don’t do a sculpture about female anatomy you will be known as The Penis Woman”.  So I made “Flying Vaginas Mobile”.  It does not look like female genitalia.  I was working from memory.  I have not seen many vaginas in my life.  After all, women can not see […]

Bosom Bunny 2011 (Bronze)

When I was finished with this sculpture, I decided that she was a complicated woman, struggling with family and career and trying to be sexy.  This is a copy of Bosom Bunny (the first sculpture I made).

Vacuna 2011 (Bronze)

The mold is taken from 200 Pound Woman.  It is hollow with about 1,000 holes throughout except for her face.  The foundry broke 100 drill bits making it.  It is illuminated internally with LED lights.  The sculpture is about being vulnerable with her emotions leaking out through the light.

Isabella 2011 (Bronze)

My sculpture Greek Goddess (terra cotta) sat around for years after it was finished.  No one could figure out how to mount it until it became a bronze piece.  Agora Gallery in New York was interested in the bronze sculpture.  The piece was given a new name “Isabella”.  It was featured on Agora Gallery’s website […]

Unbridled With Colors is about me jumping out of my past into my future of happiness.  It is a really happy horse.

Aurora 2010

I was taking a sculpture workshop with Philippe Faraut at the Armory Art Center.  We had a live model.  She was in a vulnerable position, all exposed.  I noticed that most people had sculpted her face displaying shame and shyness.   I saw something different.  My sculpture shows her face which exhibits pride and contentment. […]

Hands 2 2009

Posted by on Jun 26, 2013 in Art | No Comments

When I first started the sculpture Hands 2, I was trying to make another hand sculpture.  I was playing with the idea of the piece having more than one meaning.  When I look at it, I think about a man and a woman having sex. Others have commented that it reminds them of God reviving […]

Dreamer 2009

When I first started to build my sculpture “Dreamer”, the model at the workshop was a beautiful woman with really short hair.  I realized that by narrowing the chin and giving it a hint of an Adam’s apple, the viewer would not know if it was male or female.  As I was working on the […]
