I had just come back from a workshop in Italy with Peter Rubino and I made the sculpture.  It was built solid and hollowed out and I punched a few hundred holes into it.  At that time,  I was into puncturing things.  I glazed her with multiple colors and at one point she was lighted from within.  The light symbolized her inner beauty.  I think we focus too much on outer beauty.  The sculpture is robust, an influence, from my trips to Italy.  The lights were removed from the sculpture because it did not photograph well.
