200 Pound Woman 2006

I was in a workshop at the Armory Art Center with Peter Rubino.  In front of me lay a 6 foot long board and 250 pounds of clay.  I was terrified.  Peter convinced me it would be ok, and in 5 days, 200 Pound Woman was born.  The class ended and Brian Somerville helped me take the solid 200 pound sculpture down to 45 pounds by scooping out the excess clay.  After it was hollow, I suddenly wanted to put holes into it.  I covered the piece from head to toe in holes except for her face.  She was painted in many different colors.  200 Pound Woman was the result of an exercise in the workshop and has no meaning.
